গবেষণা (ইংরেজি: Research) হল মানুষের বুদ্ধিবৃত্তিক অনুসন্ধান প্রক্রিয়া এবং নতুন কিছু আবিষ্কারের নেশায় গবেষকদের কার্যাবলী। গবেষণার মূল উদ্দেশ্য হল বাস্তবিক কোনো সমস্যার সমাধান করা অথবা লক্ষ্য / পরিকল্পনার সফল বাস্তবায়ন করতে গবেষনা করা। গবেষণা একটি ধারাবাহিক কার্যপ্রক্রিয়া যা নির্দিষ্ট ধাপ অনুসরণ এর মাধ্যমে সম্পাদিত হয়ে থাকে। অপরদিকে উদ্ভাবন বা আবিষ্কার বলতে ব্যক্তি বা দলীয়ভাবে কোন নতুন ধরণের জিনিস, যন্ত্র বা বিষয় তৈরী, প্রযুক্তি উদ্ভাবন, প্রক্রিয়াকরণ ইত্যাদিকে বুঝায়। যদি নতুন কোন প্রযুক্তি, জিনিস বা জিনিসের উৎপত্তি কোন ব্যক্তি বা গোষ্ঠী কর্তৃক আবিষ্কার বা উদ্ভাবন করা হয়েছে বলে সংশ্লিষ্ট ব্যক্তি, দায়িত্বপ্রাপ্ত নির্দিষ্ট প্রতিষ্ঠান ঘোষণা করলে তাদেরকে উদ্ভাবক বলে।
বিজ্ঞান, প্রকৌশল, প্রযুক্তিগত গবেষনা ও উদ্ভাবন নিয়ে এই পোর্টাল কাজ করছে। বর্তমান যুগ হচ্ছে বিজ্ঞানের যুগ, এই যুগে বিজ্ঞান ও প্রযুক্তিগত গবেষণা অত্যন্ত ব্যাপকভাবে প্রসারিত হয়েছে। বিজ্ঞান এবং প্রযুক্তি ছাড়া বর্তমান জীবন প্রায় অচল বললেই চলে। জীবনের প্রতিটি ক্ষেত্রে প্রযুক্তি মানুষের সাথে অঙ্গাঅঙ্গী ভাবে জড়িত। যেই দেশ প্রযুক্তিগতভাবে যত বেশি উন্নত, সেই দেশ বিশ্বের দরবারে তত বেশি মাথা উঁচু করে দাঁড়াতে পেরেছে। প্রযুক্তি একটা দেশের শিক্ষা, স্বাস্থ্য, প্রকৌশল বিভাগ এবং সর্বোপরি দেশের উন্নতির ক্ষেত্রে সর্বোচ্চ সফলতা এনে দিতে পারে। অতএব, কোন দেশ যদি সফলতার স্বর্ণ শিখরে আরোহন করতে চায়, অবশ্যই তাকে বিজ্ঞান ও প্রযুক্তির প্রতি গুরুত্ব দিতে হবে, প্রযুক্তিগত গবেষণা বাড়াতে হবে। আইইএবি এর ”রিসার্চ অ্যান্ড ইনোভেশন পোর্টাল” এই উদ্দেশ্যকে সামনে রেখে কাজ করে যাচ্ছে। সদস্যদের মধ্যে প্রযুক্তিগত গবেষণার উৎসাহ দেওয়া, গবেষণায় সহযোগিতা করা এবং সর্বোপরি এই সেক্টরের সবগুলো শাখায় গবেষনা ও উদ্ভাবনমূলক কাজ করে যাবে রিসার্চ এন্ড ইনোভেশন পোর্টাল। রিসার্চ এন্ড ইনোভেশন পোর্টাল এর মাধ্যমে বিভিন্ন প্রকৌশল ও প্রযুক্তিগত পণ্য উদ্ভাবন করা হচ্ছে। আইইএবি এর সদস্যদেরকে এসব উদ্ভাবনী প্রকৌশল ও প্রযুক্তিগত পণ্য নিয়ে উদ্যোক্তা তৈরীতেও “রিসার্চ এন্ড ইনোভেশন পোর্টাল” কাজ করে যাচ্ছে। পাশাপাশি বিজ্ঞান ও প্রযুক্তিগত গবেষনা ও উদ্ভাবন এবং এডুকেশনাল জার্নাল নিয়ে রিসার্চ এন্ড ইনোভেশন পোর্টাল কাজ করবে। বিজ্ঞান, প্রকৌশল ও প্রযুক্তিগত গবেষণা পেপার ও প্রবন্ধ বিভিন্ন এডুকেশনাল জার্নালে প্রকাশ করতে ”রিসার্চ এন্ড ইনোভেশন পোর্টাল” বিভিন্ন জাতীয় ও আন্তর্জাতিক কনফারেন্স আয়োজন করবেন।
রিসার্চ এন্ড ইনোভেশন পোর্টাল এর কেন্দ্রীয় কমিটির মেয়াদ হবে ০৩ (তিন) বৎসর। এই কমিটি মর্যাদা হবে (ধারা ৪.১০ অনুযায়ী) কেন্দ্রীয় উপ-কমিটির সমমান। রিসার্চ এন্ড ইনোভেশন পোর্টাল এর কেন্দ্রীয় কমিটির বাহিরে বিভাগীয় কমিটিও গঠন করা যাবে। রিসার্চ এন্ড ইনোভেশন পোর্টাল এর বিভাগীয় কমিটির মেয়াদ, পদ-পদবী রূপরেখা রিসার্চ এন্ড ইনোভেশন পোর্টাল এর কেন্দ্রীয় কমিটির অনুরূপ হবে। রিসার্চ এন্ড ইনোভেশন পোর্টাল এর কার্যক্রম সুষ্ঠুভাবে পরিচালনা করার স্বার্থে (কেন্দ্রীয় কমিটির বাহিরে) রিসার্চ এন্ড ইনোভেশন পোর্টাল এর কেন্দ্রীয় / বিভাগীয় পোর্টালে সর্বোচ্চ দুইশত আইইএবি এর সদস্য কাজ করতে পারবে । রিসার্চ এন্ড ইনোভেশন পোর্টালে যে সকল সদস্যগণ কাজ করবে, তারা রিসার্চ এন্ড ইনোভেশন পোর্টাল এর কেন্দ্রীয় সদস্য / বিভাগীয় সদস্য হিসেবে পরিচয় দিতে পারবে।
রিসার্চ এন্ড ইনোভেশন পোর্টাল এর বিভাগীয় কমিটিগুলো রিসার্চ এন্ড ইনোভেশন পোর্টাল এর কেন্দ্রীয় কমিটির সরাসরি তত্ত্বাবধানে গঠিত হবে। রিসার্চ এন্ড ইনোভেশন পোর্টাল এর বিভাগীয় কার্যক্রম / বিভাগীয় কমিটির কার্যক্রম সংশিষ্ট বিভাগের বিভাগীয় কমিটি এবং রিসার্চ এন্ড ইনোভেশন পোর্টাল এর কেন্দ্রীয় কমিটির সরাসরি / সার্বিক তত্ত্বাবধানে পরিচালিত হবে।
উল্লেখ্য যে, জাতীয় স্টিয়ারিং কমিটির একজন সদস্য রিসার্চ এন্ড ইনোভেশন পোর্টাল এর পরিচালক (Director) হিসেবে দায়িত্বপ্রাপ্ত থাকবেন এবং জাতীয় প্রেসিডিয়াম কাউন্সিল এর একজন সদস্য রিসার্চ এন্ড ইনোভেশন পোর্টাল এর কো-অর্ডিনেটর (Co-ordinator) হিসেবে দায়িত্বপ্রাপ্ত থাকবেন। পাশাপাশি চীফ কাউন্সিলরদের মধ্য থেকে একজন সদস্য রিসার্চ এন্ড ইনোভেশন পোর্টাল এর সহ-কোঅর্ডিনেটর (Co-coordinator) হিসেবে দায়িত্বপ্রাপ্ত থাকবেন। জাতীয় স্টিয়ারিং কমিটির / কেন্দ্রীয় নির্বাহী কমিটির সভাপতি এবং সাধারণ সম্পাদক এর সম্মিতিতে জাতীয় স্টিয়ারিং কমিটি এবং জাতীয় প্রেসিডিয়াম কাউন্সিল এবং চীফ কাউন্সিলরদের মধ্য থেকে দায়িত্বপ্রাপ্ত এই তিন জন সদস্য রিসার্চ এন্ড ইনোভেশন পোর্টাল এর কমিটি গঠন সহ সার্বিক তত্ত্বাবধানে থাকবেন।

Research and Innovation Portal, IEAB
Research is the process of human intellectual inquiry and the activities of researchers who are addicted to discovering something new. The main purpose of research is to solve a practical problem or to investigate the successful implementation of a goal / plan. Research is a continuous process which is carried out by following certain steps. On the other hand, innovation or discovery means the creation of a new type of thing, device or subject by an individual or a group, technology invention, processing etc. If a new technology, thing or origin of things is discovered or invented by a person or group, the concerned person, the responsible specific institution declares them as inventors.
This portal deals with science, engineering, technological research and innovation. The present age is the age of science, Science and technological research expanded immensely during this era. Without science and technology, today’s life would be almost stagnant. Technology is inextricably linked with people in every aspect of life. The more technologically advanced the country is, the more it can stand tall in the court of the world. Technology can bring maximum success in a country’s education, health, engineering sector and overall development of the country. Therefore, if a country wants to climb the golden peak of success, it must give importance to science and technology, increase technological research. IEAB’s “Research and Innovation Portal” is working towards this objective. The “Research and Innovation Portal” is encouraging technological research among members, collaborating in research and above all doing research and innovation in all branches of this sector. Various engineering and technical products are being developed through the Research and Innovation Portal. “Research and Innovation Portal” is also working to make the members of IEAB entrepreneurs with these innovative engineering and technical products. Besides, the Research and Innovation Portal will work on science and technology research and innovation and educational journals. “Research and Innovation Portal” will organize various national and international conferences to publish science, engineering and technical research papers and articles in various educational journals.
The term of the Central Committee of Research and Innovation Portal will be 03 (three) years. This Committee shall have status (as per Section 4.10) equivalent to the Central Sub-Committee. Apart from the central committee of the Research and Innovation Portal; Divisional committees can also be formed. The tenure of the Divisional Committee of Research and Innovation Portal, the position & outline will be similar to that of the Central Committee of Research and Innovation Portal. In order to run the activities of Research and Innovation Portal smoothly (outside the Central Committee), maximum two hundred members of IEAB can work in the central / divisional portal of Research and Innovation Portal. All the members who will work in Research and Innovation Portal, they can introduce themselves as central member / divisional member of Research and Innovation Portal.
The Divisional Committees of Research and Innovation Portal will be formed under the direct supervision of the Central Committee of Research and Innovation Portal. The divisional activities of the Research and Innovation Portal will be conducted under the direct / overall supervision of the Divisional Committee of the concerned Division and the Central Committee of the Research and Innovation Portal.
Note that a member of the National Steering Committee will be responsible as the Director of Research and Innovation Portal and a member of the National Presidium Council will be responsible as the Coordinator of Research and Innovation Portal. As well as, one member from among the Chief Councilors will be responsible as the Co-coordinator of Research and Innovation Portal. In consent of the President and General Secretary of the National Steering Committee / Central Executive Committee, these three responsible members from the National Steering Committee and the National Presidium Council and the chief Councilors will be in overall supervision of Research and Innovation Portal including committee formation.
Engr. Alamgir Ahmed is the first nominated Director of Research and Innovation Portal in the history of IEAB, Engr. Md. Rofikul Islam is the first Nominated Coordinator of Research and Innovation Portal in the history of IEAB and Engr. Md. Sharifur Rahman is the first nominated Co-Coordinator of Research and Innovation Portal in the history of IEAB.
