০৪ (চার) টি শিল্প বিভাগ এবং ১০ (দশ) টি সাধারণ বিভাগ মোট ১৪ (চৌদ্দ) টি সাংগঠনিক বিভাগের মাধ্যমে সমগ্র বাংলাদেশ ব্যাপী আইইএবি এর সাংগঠনিক কার্যক্রম পরিব্যাপ্ত / পরিচালিত হচ্ছে। আইইএবি এর ০৪ (চার) টি শিল্প বিভাগের মধ্যে নারায়ণগঞ্জ-মুন্সিগঞ্জ শিল্প বিভাগ আইইএবি এর অন্যতম ০১ (এক) টি শিল্প বিভাগ।
আইইএবি এর ১৪ ( চৌদ্দ) টি সাংগঠনিক বিভাগে আইইএবি এর জাতীয় প্রেসিডিয়াম কাউন্সিল থেকে ০১ ( এক ) জন করে সদস্য দায়িত্বপ্রাপ্ত হিসেবে আছেন। সেই মোতাবেক, নারায়ণগঞ্জ-মুন্সিগঞ্জ শিল্প বিভাগের জন্য জাতীয় প্রেসিডিয়াম কাউন্সিল থেকে ০১ ( এক ) জন সদস্য দায়িত্বপ্রাপ্ত হিসেবে আছেন। নারায়ণগঞ্জ-মুন্সিগঞ্জ শিল্প বিভাগের দায়িত্বপ্রাপ্ত প্রেসিডিয়াম সদস্য এবং নারায়ণগঞ্জ-মুন্সিগঞ্জ শিল্প বিভাগের ০৭ (সাত) টি সাংগঠনিক কাঠামো থেকে নির্বাচিত কাউন্সিলরগণের সমন্বয়ে নারায়ণগঞ্জ-মুন্সিগঞ্জ শিল্প বিভাগের বিভাগীয় কমিটি (Divisional Committee) গঠিত হয়েছে / হবে। নারায়ণগঞ্জ-মুন্সিগঞ্জ শিল্প বিভাগের বিভাগীয় কমিটির সদস্য সংখ্যা ০৮ ( আট) জন। কাউন্সিলরদের মধ্যে একজন চীফ কাউন্সিলর থাকবে। নারায়ণগঞ্জ-মুন্সিগঞ্জ শিল্প বিভাগের দায়িত্বপ্রাপ্ত প্রেসিডিয়াম সদস্য নারায়ণগঞ্জ-মুন্সিগঞ্জ শিল্প বিভাগীয় কমিটির সভাপতির ভুমিকা পালন করবেন এবং নারায়ণগঞ্জ-মুন্সিগঞ্জ শিল্প বিভাগের চীফ / প্রধান কাউন্সিলর নারায়ণগঞ্জ-মুন্সিগঞ্জ শিল্প বিভাগীয় কমিটির সাধারণ সম্পাদকের ভুমিকা পালন করবেন। উল্লেখ্য যে, নারায়ণগঞ্জ-মুন্সিগঞ্জ শিল্প বিভাগের সাংগঠনিক কার্যক্রম বিশেষ তদারকি ও ত্বরান্বিত করতে আইইএবি এর জাতীয় স্টিয়ারিং কমিটি থেকে ০১ ( এক) জন সদস্য বিশেষ দায়িত্বপ্রাপ্ত হিসেবে আছেন / থাকবেন। আইইএবি এর ইতিহাসে জাতীয় স্টিয়ারিং কমিটি থেকে নারায়ণগঞ্জ-মুন্সিগঞ্জ শিল্প বিভাগের জন্য প্রথম বিশেষ দায়িত্বপ্রাপ্ত সদস্য হলেন প্রকৌঃ মেহেদী হাসান।
প্রকৌঃ মেহেদী হাসান এবং প্রকৌঃ মোঃ সামসুল আলামিন রিয়েল হলো আইইএবি প্রতিষ্ঠাতা সদস্য এবং তারা আইইএবি এর নারায়ণগঞ্জ-মুন্সিগঞ্জ শিল্প বিভাগ বিভাগের গর্বিত সদস্য। প্রকৌঃ মোঃ সামসুল আলামিন রিয়েল নারায়ণগঞ্জ-মুন্সিগঞ্জ শিল্প বিভাগ থেকে নির্বাচিত / মনোনীত প্রথম প্রেসিডিয়াম মেম্বার এবং প্রকৌঃ মোঃ মঞ্জুর রহমান বাশার নারায়ণগঞ্জ-মুন্সিগঞ্জ শিল্প বিভাগ থেকে নির্বাচিত / মনোনীত প্রথম চীফ কাউন্সিলর। প্রকৌঃ মঞ্জুর রহমান বাশার, প্রকৌঃ মোঃ জিকরুল ইসলাম মোল্লা, প্রকৌঃ মোঃ রুবেল রানা, প্রকৌঃ সত্যজিৎ সমাদ্দার, প্রকৌঃ মোঃ রবিউল ইসলাম মুসা এবং প্রকৌঃ রোমান বাদশা হলো আইইএবি এর ইতিহাসে নারায়ণগঞ্জ-মুন্সিগঞ্জ শিল্প বিভাগের বিভিন্ন কাঠামো থেকে নির্বাচিত / মনোনীত প্রথম কাউন্সিলর।
নারায়ণগঞ্জ-মুন্সিগঞ্জ শিল্প বিভাগ সাংগঠনিকভাবে সংগঠিত শক্তিশালী একটি বিভাগ। আইইএবি এর ইতিহাসে, আইইএবি এর ০৫ (পাচঁ) সদস্য বিশিষ্ট প্রথম জাতীয় স্টিয়ারিং কমিটির একজন সদস্য হিসেবে প্রকৌঃ মেহেদী হাসান নির্বাচিত / মনোনীত হয়েছিলো এই নারায়ণগঞ্জ-মুন্সিগঞ্জ শিল্প বিভাগ, আইইএবি থেকে। পরবর্তীতে তিনি (প্রকৌঃ মেহেদী হাসান) আইইএবি এর প্রথম জাতীয় স্টিয়ারিং কমিটির অর্থ ও দপ্তপ সম্পাদক ( ভারপ্রাপ্ত) নির্বাচিত / মনোনীত হয়েছিলেন। উল্লেখ্য যে, আইইএবি এর ইতিহাসে জাতীয় প্রেসিডিয়াম কাউন্সিল এর প্রথম নির্বাচিত প্রেসিডিয়াম সদস্য ( প্রকৌঃ মোঃ সামসুল আলামিন রিয়েল) নারায়ণগঞ্জ–মুন্সীগঞ্জ শিল্প বিভাগ থেকে নির্বাচিত হয়েছে এবং আইইএবি এর ইতিহাসে আইইএবি এর গঠনতন্ত্র-যাচাই, বাছাই, বিশেলষণ, মূল্যায়ণ ও চূরান্তকরণ কমিটির মনোনীত সভাপতি (প্রকৌঃ মোঃ সামসুল আলামিন রিয়েল) ছিলেন এই নারায়ণগঞ্জ-মুন্সিগঞ্জ শিল্প বিভাগ, আইইএবি থেকে। আইইএবি এর ইতিহাসে প্রথম সফল বিভাগীয় ইঞ্জিনিয়ার্স মিলনমেলা-২০২২ আয়োজন করেছিলো এই নারায়ণগঞ্জ-মুন্সিগঞ্জ শিল্প বিভাগ, আইইএবি।
প্রত্নতাত্তিক নিদর্শন ও দর্শনীয় স্থানঃ নারায়ণগঞ্জ -মুন্সিগঞ্জে শিল্প বিভাগে রয়েছে বিভিন্ন প্রত্নতাত্তিক নিদর্শন ও দর্শনীয় স্থান। তার মধ্যে পানাম নগরী ও শিল্পাচার্য জয়নুল লোক ও কারুশিল্প জাদুঘর ইল্লেখ্যযোগ্য।
পানাম নগরঃ পানাম নগর নারায়ণগঞ্জ জেলার সোনারগাঁতে অবস্থিত একটি ঐতিহ্যবাহী প্রাচীন শহর। বড় নগর, খাস নগর, পানাম নগর – প্রাচীন সোনারগাঁর এই তিন নগরের মধ্যে পানাম ছিলো সবচেয়ে আকর্ষণীয়। এখানে কয়েক শতাব্দী পুরনো অনেক ভবন রয়েছে, যা বাংলার বার ভূইয়াঁদের ইতিহাসের সাথে সম্পর্কিত। সোনারগাঁর ২০ বর্গকিলোমিটার এলাকাজুড়ে এই নগরী গড়ে ওঠে। পৃথিবীর ১০০টি ধ্বংসপ্রায় ঐতিহাসিক শহরের একটি পানাম নগর। ওয়ার্ল্ড মনুমেন্ট ফান্ড ২০০৬ সালে পানাম নগরকে বিশ্বের ধ্বংসপ্রায় ১০০টি ঐতিহাসিক স্থাপনার তালিকায় প্রকাশ করে। আজ থেকে প্রায় ৪৫০ বছর আগে বার ভূইয়ার দলপতি ঈশা খাঁ ১৫ শতকে বাংলার প্রথম রাজধানী স্থাপন করেছিলেন সোনারগাঁওতে। হাঁটাপথেই পৌঁছানো যায় অর্ধ্বচন্দ্রাকৃতি পানাম পুলে। (যদিও পুলটি ধ্বংস হয়ে গেছে)। পুলটির দৈর্ঘ্য ছিলো ৭২ ফুট আর প্রস্থ ছিলো ১৫.৫ ফুট[৪], মাঝখানটা ছিলো উঁচু। এই পুল পেরিয়েই পানাম নগর। পূর্বে মেঘনা আর পশ্চিমে শীতলক্ষ্যা নদীপথে বিলেত থেকে আসতো বিলাতি থানকাপড়, দেশ থেকে যেতো মসলিন। শীতলক্ষ্যা আর মেঘনার ঘাটে প্রতিদিনই ভিড়তো পালতোলা নৌকা। প্রায় ঐসময়ই ইস্ট ইন্ডিয়া কোম্পানীর বাণিজ্যিক কার্যক্রম ও চিরস্থায়ী বন্দোবস্তের ফলে ইউরোপীয় অনুপ্রেরণায় নতুন ঔপনিবেশিক স্থাপত্যরীতিতে গড়ে উঠে পানাম নগরী। পরবর্তিতে এই পোশাক বাণিজ্যের স্থান দখল করে নেয় নীল বাণিজ্য। ইংরেজরা এখানে বসিয়েছিলেন নীলের বাণিজ্যকেন্দ্র।
শিল্পাচার্য জয়নুল লোক ও কারুশিল্প জাদুঘরঃ শিল্পাচার্য জয়নুল লোক ও কারুশিল্প জাদুঘর হলো বাংলাদেশের প্রাচীন ঐতিহ্য রক্ষার্থে বাংলাদেশ লোক ও কারুশিল্প ফাউন্ডেশনের উদ্যোগে গঠিত একটি জাদুঘর, যা ঢাকার অদূরে সোনাগাঁতে পানাম নগরীর পাশে অবস্থিত। আবহমান গ্রাম বাংলার লোক সাংস্কৃতিক ধারাকে বিকশিত করার উদ্যোগে ১৯৭৫ খ্রিষ্টাব্দে ১২ মার্চ শিল্পাচার্য জয়নুল আবেদিন সোনারগাঁয়ের ঐতিহাসিক পানাম নগরীর একটি পুরনো বাড়িতে প্রতিষ্ঠা করেন বাংলাদেশ লোক ও কারুশিল্প ফাউন্ডেশন। পরে ১৯৮১ খ্রিষ্টাব্দে ১৫০ বিঘা আয়তনের কমপ্লেক্সে খোলা আকাশের নিচে বাংলার প্রকৃতি ও পরিবেশে গ্রামীণ রূপকেন্দ্রিক বাংলাদেশের সাধারণ মানুষের শৈল্পিক কর্মকান্ডের পরিচয় তুলে ধরতে শিল্পী জয়নুল আবেদিন এই জাদুঘর উন্মুক্ত পরিবেশে গড়ে তোলার প্রয়াস নেন এবং বাংলাদেশ লোক ও কারুশিল্প ফাউন্ডেশন কমপ্লেক্সটি প্রায় ১০০ বছর পুরাতন সর্দার বাড়িতে স্থানান্তরিত হয়। এখানে স্থান পেয়েছে বাংলাদেশের অবহেলিত গ্রাম-বাংলার নিরক্ষর শিল্পীদের হস্তশিল্প, জনজীবনের নিত্য ব্যবহার্য পণ্যসামগ্রী। এসব শিল্প-সামগ্রীতে তৎকালীন প্রাচীন বাংলার ঐতিহ্যবাহী লোকশিল্পের রূপচিত্র প্রস্ফুটিত হয়।
এছাড়াও নারায়ণগঞ্জ -মুন্সিগঞ্জে শিল্প বিভাগে রয়েছে আরো বিভিন্ন প্রত্নতাত্তিক নিদর্শন ও দর্শনীয় স্থান। যেমনঃ- জিন্দা পার্ক, মুড়াপাড়া জমিদার বাড়ি, সুবর্ণগ্রাম অ্যামিউজমেন্ট পার্ক এন্ড রিসোর্ট, হাজীগঞ্জ দুর্গ সাতগ্রাম জমিদার বাড়ি, বারদী লোকনাথ আশ্রম, মেরি এন্ডারসন, ফুলের গ্রাম সাবদি, সোনাকান্দা দুর্গ, কাইকারটেক হাট, মায়াদ্বীপ, বাংলার তাজমহল, পিরামিড, সায়রা গার্ডেন রিসোর্ট, গোয়ালদি মসজিদ, গোয়ালদি মসজিদ, লাঙ্গল বন্দ মন্দির, কদম রসুল দরগাহ, দেওভোগ লেক, ইদ্রাকপুর কেল্লা, অতীশ দীপঙ্করের জন্মস্থান, পোলঘাটা সেতু, ষোলআনী সৈকত, রায় বাহাদুর শ্রীনাথ রায়ের বাড়ি, পদ্মহেম ধাম, সোনারং জোড়া মঠ, বাবা আদম মসজিদ, আড়িয়াল বিল, ভাগ্যকুল জমিদার বাড়ি, জগদীশ চন্দ্র বসু স্মৃতি জাদুঘর, মাওয়া ফেরি ঘাট, মেঘনা ভিলেজ হলিডে রিসোর্ট, মাওয়া রিসোর্ট, পদ্মা রিসোর্ট ইত্যাদি।
নারায়ণগঞ্জ–মুন্সীগঞ্জ শিল্প বিভাগ ইন্ডাস্ট্রিয়াল ইঞ্জিনিয়ার্স অ্যাসোসিয়েশন অব বাংলাদেশ (আইইএবি) এর জন্য একটি গুরুত্বপূর্ণ শিল্প বিভাগ। এই বিভাগ শিল্প ও বাণিজ্যের জন্য প্রাণকেন্দ্র। সারাদেশ থেকে প্রচুর প্রকৌশলী ও কারিগরি জ্ঞান সম্পন্ন দক্ষ্য জনবল এই বিভাগের বিভিন্ন শিল্প / প্রাইভেট / বেসরকারী প্রতিষ্ঠানে কাজ করে যাচ্ছে। শিল্প প্রতিষ্ঠানে সমৃদ্ধ বলে এই বিভাগটি জাতীয় অর্থনীতিতেও গুরুত্বপূর্ণ ভূমিকা পালন রেখে যাচ্ছে। ইতিহাস থেকে জানা যায়; শীতলক্ষ্যা ও মেঘনা নদীকে কেন্দ্র করে নদীর দুই পাশ দিয়ে একটা সময় শিল্প -বাণিজ্য গড়ে উঠে। পরবর্তীতে এই শিল্প বিস্তার নারায়ণগঞ্জ-মুন্সীগঞ্জ জেলায় সম্পূর্ণরূপে ছড়িয়ে পরে। ভারী শিল্প / মাঝারী শিল্প / পোষাক শিল্প সহ প্রায় সকল ধরনের শিল্প প্রতিষ্ঠান এই বিভাগকে সমৃদ্ধ করেছে। আদমজী রপ্তানী প্রক্রিয়াকরণ অঞ্চল (আদমজী ইপিজেড) নারায়ণগঞ্জ-মুন্সীগঞ্জ শিল্প বিভাগে অবস্থিত। তাই, আইইএবি এর সাংগঠনিক কার্যক্রম সুন্দরভাবে পরিচালনা করতে এবং শিল্প প্রতিষ্ঠানকে প্রাধান্য দিয়ে নারায়ণগঞ্জ এবং মুন্সীগঞ্জ জেলাকে একত্র করে আইইএবি পরিবার নারায়ণগঞ্জ-মুন্সীগঞ্জ শিল্প বিভাগ নামে একটা বিভাগ গঠন করেছে।
এই শিল্প বিভাগটি নারায়ণগঞ্জ ও মুন্সীগঞ্জ দুটি জেলা নিয়ে গঠিত। নারায়ণগঞ্জ দেশের অন্যতম প্রাচীন শিল্প জেলা। বর্তমানে নারায়ণগঞ্জ গার্মেন্টস শিল্পের অন্যতম প্রধান কেন্দ্র। নারায়ণগঞ্জে এক ডজনের বেশি সাবান কারখানা রয়েছে। অনেক সিলিকেট, সিমেন্ট, মেলামাইন, কেমিক্যালস, ক্যাবলস, সল্ট, স্টিল রি রোলিং, পেপার মিল এবং কারখানাও রয়েছে। নারায়ণগঞ্জ শহরেও অনেক বড় ময়দা মিল রয়েছে। এটি একটি শিল্প কেন্দ্র এবং দেশের পাট ব্যবসা, উদ্ভিদ প্রক্রিয়াকরণ এবং বস্ত্র খাতে গুরুত্বপূর্ণ ভূমিকা পালন করে। এটিকে “বাংলাদেশের ডান্ডি” ডাকনাম দেওয়া হয় (ডান্ডি ছিল বিশ্বের প্রথম শিল্পায়িত ‘জুট পলিস’)। জামদানী শাড়ি উৎপাদনের জন্যও নারায়ণঞ্জ বিখ্যাত এবং রণদা প্রসাদ সাহা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় সহ বিভিন্ন পলিটেকনিক এবং টেকনিক্যাল ইনস্টিটিউট নারায়ণগঞ্জ জেলায় অবস্থিত।
মুন্সীগঞ্জ জেলা শিল্পে বিশেষ স্থান দখল করে আছে। বাংলাদেশের জেলাগুলোর মধ্যে এই জেলায় সবচেয়ে বেশি হিমাগার রয়েছে। এছাড়াও মিরকাদিম বন্দরের চারপাশে গড়ে ওঠা এই এলাকায় অসংখ্য রাইস মিল, তেলের মিল, ডাল মিল, আটার মিল রয়েছে। এই মিরকাদিম বন্দর অতীতে পাক-ভারত উপমহাদেশের একটি প্রধান বন্দর হিসেবে বিখ্যাত ছিল। অন্যদিকে, এই জেলা মুক্তারপুরকে ঘিরে গড়ে উঠেছে মাছ ধরার জালের অসংখ্য শিল্প যা জেলাভিত্তিক বিবেচনা করলে উল্লেখ করার মতো। এছাড়াও এ জেলায় অসংখ্য সিমেন্ট কারখানা রয়েছে যা জাতীয় পর্যায়ে উল্লেখযোগ্য ভূমিকা রাখছে। মুন্সীগঞ্জ জেলার মৌলিক শিল্পনগরীতে গড়ে উঠেছে অসংখ্য ক্ষুদ্র শিল্প। জেলায় বস্ত্র ও রাসায়নিক শিল্প রয়েছে। এ ছাড়া এ জেলায় পোশাক শিল্পসহ অন্যান্য শিল্প স্থাপনের জন্য একটি বিশেষ জোন তৈরির সিদ্ধান্ত নিয়েছে সরকার।
সরকারী ও বেসরকারী উদ্যোগে নারায়ণগঞ্জ-মুন্সিগঞ্জে গড়ে উঠেছে বিভিন্ন অর্থনৈতিক অঞ্চন / শিল্প অঞ্চল। যেমনঃ নারায়ণগঞ্জের বন্দর ও সোনারগাঁওয়ের কমন একটি স্থানে প্রতিষ্ঠিত হচ্ছে ”নারায়ণগঞ্জ ইকোমিক জোন”, নারায়ণগঞ্জের সোনারগাঁওয়ের আলাদাভাবে “নারায়ণগঞ্জ ইকোমিক জোন” নামে আরো একটি অ্থনৈতিক অঞ্চল প্রতিষ্ঠিত হচ্ছে। নারায়ণগঞ্জের আড়াইহাজারে প্রতিষ্ঠিত হয়েছে “ বাংলাদেশ স্পেশাল ইকোনমিক জোন এবং আড়াইহাজার ইকোনমিক জোন ( জাপানিজ ইকোনমিক জোন) ”। মুন্সিগঞ্জের গজারিয়াতে প্রতিষ্ঠিত হয়েছে “গজারিয়া ইকোনমিক জোন”। মুন্সিগঞ্জের বেসরকারী উদ্যোগে প্রতিষ্ঠিত হয়েছে “ আব্দুল মোমেন ইকোনমিক জোন, গার্মেন্টস ইন্ডাস্ট্রিজ পার্ক ( বিজিএমইএ এর উদ্যোগে ), আবুল খায়ের ইকোনমিক জোন, স্টান্ডার্ড গ্লোবাল ইকোনমিক জোন, আনোয়ার ইকোনমিক জোন এবং হোসেনদী ইকোনমিক জোন। নারায়ণগঞ্জে বেসরকারী উদ্যোগে প্রতিষ্ঠিত হয়েছে “ মেঘনা ইন্ডাস্ট্রিয়াল ইকোনমিক জোন, মেঘনা ইকোনমিক জোন, আমান ইকোনমিক জোন এবং সিটি ইকোনমিক জোন ।
এছাড়াও ঢাকার কাছে আরো দুটি অর্থনৈতিক অঞ্চল প্রতিষ্ঠার অনুমোদন পেয়েছে বাংলাদেশ অর্থনৈতিক অঞ্চল কর্তৃপক্ষ (বেজা)। এই দুটি অর্থনৈতিক অঞ্চলে ঢাকার ভেতরে থাকা প্লাস্টিক, হালকা প্রকৌশল, রাসায়নিকসহ অন্যান্য শিল্প সরিয়ে নেওয়া হবে। দুটি অর্থনৈতিক অঞ্চলের একটি হবে ঢাকার নবাবগঞ্জ ও অপরটি হবে মুন্সিগঞ্জের সিরাজদিখানে। মুন্সিগঞ্জের সিরাজদিখানে এই অর্থনৈতিক অঞ্চলের আকার হবে ৫০০ একর। সিরাজদিখান অর্থনৈতিক অঞ্চলটি ঢাকার জিরোপয়েন্ট থেকে ২২ কিলোমিটার দূরে ঢাকা-বান্দুরা সড়কের পাশে অবস্থিত। এটি চিত্রকুটি ইউনিয়নের খারশুল ও মরিচা মৌজায়। ঢাকার কাছে সরকারিভাবে প্রতিষ্ঠিত হতে যাওয়া এই অর্থনৈতিক অঞ্চলে অন্যান্য দেশি ও বিদেশি বিনিয়োগকারীদের জন্যও জমি থাকবে। অর্থনৈতিক অঞ্চলটি হলে ঢাকা মহানগর ( পুরান ঢাকা ) থেকে ১ হাজার ২০০ রাসায়নিক কারখানা / গুদাম, প্লাস্টিকের কারখানা, ও হালকা প্রকৌশল শিল্পকারখানাগুলো যেমন সরানো যাবে, তেমনি ঢাকার কাছে বিদেশি বিনিয়োগকারীদেরও জমির চাহিদা মেটানো যাবে। পুরান ঢাকা থেকে এসব কারখানা সরিয়ে নিতে ক্ষুদ্র ব্যবসায়ী / উদ্যোক্তাদের স্বল্পমূল্যে জমি দেওয়া হবে।
শিল্প বানিজ্য / শিল্প ঐতিহ্য/ শিল্প ঘনত্ব কে প্রাধান্য দিয়ে আইইএবি পরিবারের সাংগঠনিক কার্যক্রম পরিচালনা করার জন্য নারায়ণগঞ্জ–মুন্সীগঞ্জ শিল্প বিভাগের অধীনে কয়েকটি শিল্প ইউনিট গঠন করা হয়েছে। বিভিন্ন শিল্প ইউনিটের অধীনে বিভিন্ন উপ-শিল্প ইউনিট গঠন করা হয়েছে। শিল্প ইউনিট গুলো জেলা কাঠামোর সমমান এবং উপ-শিল্প ইউনিটগুলো উপজেলা কাঠামোর সমমান।

Narayanganj-Munshiganj Industrial Division,IEAB
The organizational activities of IEAB are being carried out all over Bangladesh through 04 (four) industrial divisions and 10 (ten) general divisions totaling 14 (fourteen) organizational divisions. Among the 04 (four) industrial divisions of IEAB, Narayanganj-Munshiganj industrial division is one of the important industrial divisions of IEAB.
14 (fourteen) organizational divisions of IEAB have 01 (one) members as incumbents from the National Presidium Council of IEAB. Accordingly, 01 (one) member from National Presidium Council for Narayanganj-Munshiganj industrial division is in charge. The Divisional Committee of Narayanganj-Munshiganj industrial division has been/will be formed by the presidium members in charge of Narayanganj-Munshiganj industrial division and councilors selected from 07 (seven) organizational structures of Narayanganj-Munshiganj industrial division. Among the Councilors there will be a Chief Councilor. The presidium member in charge of Narayanganj-Munshiganj industrial division will play the role of President of Narayanganj-Munshiganj industrial Divisional Committee and Chief Councilor of Narayanganj-Munshiganj will play the role of General Secretary of Narayanganj-Munshiganj industrial Divisional Committee. The number of members of the Divisional committee of Narayanganj-Munshiganj industrial division is 08 (eight). It is noted that 01 (one) member from the National Steering Committee of IEAB is specially assigned to supervise and accelerate the organizational activities of Narayanganj-Munshiganj industrial division. In the history of IEAB, Engr. Mehedi Hasan is the first special responsible member for Narayanganj-Munshiganj Industrial Division from the National Steering Committee, IEAB.
Engr. Mehdi Hasan and Engr. Md. Samsul Alamin Real are the founder members of IEAB and are proud members of Narayanganj-Munshiganj Industrial Division of IEAB. Engr. Md. Samsul Alamin Real is the first elected/nominated Presidium member from Narayanganj-Munshiganj Industrial Division and Engr. Md. Manjur Rahman Bashar is the first elected/nominated Chief Councilor from Narayanganj-Munshiganj Industrial Division. Engr. Monjur Rahman Bashar, Engr. Jikrul Islam Mollah, Engr. Md. Rubel Rana
Engr. Satyajit Samadder, Engr. Md. Robiul Islam Musa, and Engr. Roman Badsha are the first elected / nominated Councilors from various structures of Narayanganj-Munshiganj Industrial Division in the history of IEAB.
In the history of IEAB, Engr. Mehdi Hasan was elected / nominated as a member of the 05 (five) member first National Steering Committee of IEAB from Narayanganj-Munshiganj Industrial Division, IEAB. Later he (Engr Mehdi Hasan) was elected/nominated as Finance and Administration Secretary (Acting) of the first National Steering Committee of IEAB. It is noted that in the history of IEAB, the first elected presidium member (Engr. Md. Samsul Alamin Real) of the National Presidium Council was elected from Narayanganj-Munshiganj Industrial Division and in the history of IEAB, the nominated president (Engr. Md. Samsul Alamin Real) of IEAB’s constitution-verification, selection, analysis, evaluation and finalization committee was from this Narayanganj-Munshiganj Industrial Division. In the history of IEAB, the first successful Divisional Engineers get-together program organized the Narayanganj-Munshiganj Industries Division, IEAB.
Archeological monuments and places of interest: There are various archeological monuments and places of interest in the industrial sector of Narayanganj-Munshiganj. Among them Panam Nagari and Shilpacharya Zainul Lok and Crafts Museum are noteworthy.
Panam Nagar: Panam Nagar is a traditional ancient city located in Sonargaon of Narayanganj district. Bara Nagar, Khas Nagar, Panam Nagar – Ancient Sonargaon Panam was the most interesting of these three cities. There are many centuries-old buildings, which relate to the history of the Bar Bhuiyans of Bengal. Sonargaon is a city built on an area of 20 square kilometers. Panam Nagar is one of the 100 ruined historical cities of the world. In 2006, the World Monuments Fund listed Panama City as one of the 100 most endangered historical sites in the world. About 450 years ago, Bar Bhuiyan leader Isha Khan established the first capital of Bengal at Sonargaon in the 15th century. The crescent-shaped Panam Pool can be reached by foot. (Although the pool is destroyed). The pool was 72 feet long and 15.5 feet wide[4], with a high center. Panam Nagar is across this pool. Bilati Thankapar came from Bilat via the Meghna in the east and Shitalakshya in the west, and muslin went from the country. Shitalakshya and Meghna Ghats were crowded with sailing boats every day. Around that time, as a result of East India Company’s commercial activities and permanent settlements, the city of Panam was built in a new colonial style of European inspiration. Later this clothing trade was taken over by blue trade. The British established a trading center for indigo here.
Shilpacharya Zainul Folk and Crafts Museum: Shilpacharya Zainul Folk and Crafts Museum is a museum organized by Bangladesh Folk and Crafts Foundation to preserve the ancient heritage of Bangladesh, which is located near Panam Nagar in Sonagaon near Dhaka. Shilpacharya Zainul Abedin established the Bangladesh Folk and Crafts Foundation in an old house in Sonargaon historical Panam Nagar on March 12, 1975 in an effort to develop the folk culture of Abhaman Village Bengal. Later in 1981, artist Zainul Abedin tried to build this museum in an open-air environment in a complex of 150 bigha under the open sky to highlight the artistic activities of the common people of Bangladesh, centered on the nature and rural environment of Bengal, and the Bangladesh Folk and Crafts Foundation complex was shifted to the house of Sardar, who is about 100 years old. Handicrafts of the illiterate artists of the neglected villages of Bangladesh, daily use products of public life have been placed here. In these artifacts, the traditional folk art of ancient Bengal flourished.
Also, there are various archaeological monuments and sightseeing places in Narayanganj-Munshiganj industrial sector. For example:- Zinda Park, Murapara Zamindar Bari, Subarnagram Amusement Park and Resort, Hajiganj Fort Satgram Zamindar Bari, Bardi Loknath Ashram, Mary Anderson, Phule Village Sabdi, Sonakanda Fort, Kaikartek Hut, Mayadip, Taj Mahal of Bengal, Pyramid, Saira Garden Resort, Goaldi Mosque, Gwaldi Mosque, Langal Band Temple, Kadam Rasul Dargah, Deovog Lake, Idrakpur Fort, Birthplace of Atish Dipankar, Polghata Bridge, Sholani Beach, Ray Bahadur Srinath Roy’s House, Padmahem Dham, Sonarang Jora Math, Baba Adam Mosque, Ariyal Bill, Bhagyakul Zamindar Bari, Jagadish Chandra Bose Memorial Museum, Mawa Ferry Ghat, Meghna Village Holiday Resort, Mawa Resort, Padma Resort etc.
Narayanganj–Munshiganj Industrial Division is an important industrial division for Industrial Engineers Association of Bangladesh (IEAB). This division is a hub for industry and commerce. A large number of engineers and skilled manpower with technical knowledge from all over the country are working in various industries / private / non-government organizations of this Division. Being rich in industrial establishments, this division is also playing an important role in the national economy. It is known from history; At one time, industry and trade developed on both sides of the river centered on Shitalakshya and Meghna rivers. Later this industrial expansion spread completely in Narayanganj-Munshiganj district. Almost all types of industrial establishments including heavy industries / medium industries / apparel industries have enriched this Division. Adamji Export Processing Zone (AEPZ) is located in Narayanganj-Munshiganj Industrial Division. Therefore, to conduct the organizational activities of IEAB well and give priority to industrial establishments, IEAB family has formed a division named Narayanganj-Munshiganj Industrial Division by combining Narayanganj and Munshiganj districts.
This industrial division consists of two districts Narayanganj and Munshiganj. Narayanganj is one of the oldest industrial districts of the country. Currently, Narayanganj is one of the main centers of garment industry. There are more than a dozen soap factories in Narayanganj. There are also many silicates, cement, melamine, chemicals, cables, salt, steel re rolling, paper mills and factories. Narayanganj town also has a large flour mill. It is an industrial center and plays an important role in the jute trade, plant processing and textile sectors of the country. It was nicknamed the “Dandi of Bangladesh” (Dandi was the world’s first industrialized ‘jute police’). Narayanganj is also famous for production of Jamdani sarees and various polytechnics and technical institutes including Ranada Prasad Saha University are located in Narayanganj district.
Munshiganj district occupies a special place in industry. Among the districts of Bangladesh, this district has the largest number of cold storage facilities. Also, there are numerous rice mills, oil mills, pulse mills, flour mills in this area built around Mirkadim port. This Mirkadim port was famous as a major port of Pak-India subcontinent in the past. On the other hand, numerous fishing net industries have developed around this district Muktarpur which is worth mentioning if considered district wise. Also, there are numerous cement factories in this district which are playing a significant role at the national level. Numerous small-scale industries have developed in the basic industrial city of Munshiganj district. The district has textile and chemical industries. Apart from this, the government has decided to create a special zone for setting up other industries including garment industry in this district.
Various economic zones / industrial zones have been developed in Narayanganj-Munshiganj by government and private initiatives. For example: “Narayanganj Economic Zone” is being established at the common place of Narayanganj port and Sonargaon, another economic zone called “Narayanganj Economic Zone” is being established separately in Sonargaon of Narayanganj. “Bangladesh Special Economic Zone and Araihazaar Economic Zone (Japanese Economic Zone)” have been established in Araihazaar of Narayanganj. “Gazaria Economic Zone” has been established at Ghazaria in Munshiganj. Munshiganj Private Enterprises have established “Abdul Momen Economic Zone, Garment Industries Park (under the initiative of BGMEA), Abul Khair Economic Zone, Standard Global Economic Zone, Anwar Economic Zone and Hossaindi Economic Zone. Meghna Industrial Economic Zone, Meghna Economic Zone, Aman Economic Zone and City Economic Zone have been established in Narayanganj by private initiative.
Besides, the Bangladesh Economic Zones Authority (BEZA) has approved the establishment of two more economic zones near Dhaka. Plastic, light engineering, chemicals and other industries inside Dhaka will be moved to these two economic zones. One of the two economic zones will be in Nawabganj in Dhaka and the other in Sirajdikhan in Munshiganj. The size of this economic zone will be 500 acres in Sirajdikhan of Munshiganj. Sirajdikhan Economic Zone is located along the Dhaka-Bandura Road, 22 km from the zero point of Dhaka. It is in Kharshul and Moricha Mauza of Chitrakuti Union. The economic zone to be officially established near Dhaka will also have land for other domestic and foreign investors. If the economic zone is made, 1,200 chemical factories/warehouses, plastic factories, and light engineering industries can be moved from Dhaka metropolis (old Dhaka), as well as foreign investors’ land needs can be met near Dhaka. Small traders/entrepreneurs will be given land at low cost to move these factories from Old Dhaka.
Several industrial units have been formed under Narayanganj-Munshiganj Industrial Division with emphasis on industrial trade / industrial heritage / industrial concentration to manage the organizational activities of the IEAB family. Various sub-industrial units are formed under various industrial units. Industrial units are equivalent to district structure and sub-industrial units are equivalent to upazila structure.
