A skilled engineer is the wealth of a country.

An engineer will become an asset to the country only when that engineer can be adequately employed by providing a good working environment. Engineers from various engineering universities/polytechnic institutes of our country are working in various government / private industries. But it is sad but true that the engineers working in the private sector of our country are constantly being discriminated against and deprived of their fair rights at their workplace.

There is no job security for them. No one gets a job as an engineer even after passing engineering. Numerous such disparities currently exist in the private sector. So there was the need to create an institution/guardian organization to speak out against these discriminations. Keeping this objective in mind, some skilled engineers of this country came together and formed an organization called the Industrial Engineers Association of Bangladesh (IEAB).

At present this organization is a large professional body of engineers working in the private and public sectors. Besides taking various steps to develop the skills of engineers, IEAB has created a portal called Skill Development Portal. We know that technology is constantly changing so the portal plays a significant role in introducing new technologies used in industries. IEAB also created a portal called Entrepreneurship Portal to encourage self-employment of engineers.

Finally, I can say that IEAB is continuously working to improve the skills of engineers working in the private industries of the country, eliminate discrimination and achieve their fair rights.

একজন দক্ষ প্রকৌশলী একটি দেশের সম্পদ। একজন প্রকৌশলী তখনই দেশের সম্পদে পরিণত হবে, যখন সেই প্রকৌশলীকে সুন্দর কর্ম পরিবেশ প্রদান করে সঠিকভাবে কাজে লাগানো যাবে। আমাদের দেশের বিভিন্ন প্রকৌশল বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় / পলিটেকনিক ইনস্টিটিউট থেকে পাস করা প্রকৌশলী গন বিভিন্ন সরকারি /বেসরকারি/ প্রাইভেট শিল্প প্রতিষ্ঠানে কর্মরত আছেন। কিন্তু দুঃখজনক হলেও সত্যি যে, আমাদের দেশের প্রাইভেট সেক্টরে কর্মরত প্রকৌশলী গন তাদের কর্মস্থলে প্রতিনিয়ত বিভিন্ন বৈষম্যের শিকার হচ্ছেন এবং ন্যায্য অধিকার থেকে বঞ্চিত হচ্ছেন। তাদের চাকরির কোন নিশ্চয়তা নাই। কেউ আবার ইঞ্জিনিয়ারিং পাশ করেও ইঞ্জিনিয়ার হিসেবে চাকরি পাচ্ছেন না। এরকম অসংখ্য বৈষম্য বর্তমানে প্রাইভেট সেক্টরে বিরাজমান।

তাই এসব বৈষম্যের বিরুদ্ধে কথা বলার জন্য একটি প্রতিষ্ঠান / অভিভাবক সংগঠন তৈরি করার প্রয়োজন ছিল। এই উদ্দেশ্যকে সামনে রেখে এদেশের কিছু সংখ্যক দক্ষ প্রকৌশলী একত্রিত হয়ে ইন্ডাস্ট্রিয়াল ইঞ্জিনিয়ার্স অ্যাসোসিয়েশন অফ বাংলাদেশ (আইইএবি) নামে একটি সংগঠন গঠন করে। বর্তমানে এই সংগঠন বেসরকারি এবং প্রাইভেট সেক্টরে কর্মরত প্রকৌশলীদের একটি বৃহৎ পেশাজীবী সংগঠন। আইইএবি প্রকৌশলীদের স্কিল ডেভেলপ করার জন্য বিভিন্ন পদক্ষেপ গ্রহণের পাশাপাশি স্কিল ডেভেলপমেন্ট পোর্টাল নামে একটি পোটাল গঠন করেছে । আমরা জানি টেকনোলজি প্রতিনিয়ত পরিবর্তনশীল, তাই শিল্প প্রতিষ্ঠানগুলোতে ব্যবহৃত নতুন নতুন প্রযুক্তির সাথে পরিচয় করিয়ে দেওয়ার জন্য উক্ত পোর্টাল উল্লেখযোগ্য ভূমিকা রাখছে। প্রকৌশলীদের কে আত্মকর্ম সংস্থানে উদ্বুদ্ধ করার জন্য এন্টারপ্রেনিয়রশিপ পোর্টাল নামে একটি পোর্টাল গঠন করেছে।

পরিশেষে আমি বলতে পারি আইইএবি এদেশের বেসরকারি / প্রাইভেট শিল্প প্রতিষ্ঠানে কর্মরত প্রকৌশলীদের দক্ষতার উন্নয়ন, মেধার বিকাশ, বৈষম্য দূরীকরণ এবং তাদের ন্যায্য অধিকার আদায়ের লক্ষ্যে বিরামহীন ভাবে কাজ করে যাচ্ছে।
