ব্লাড ব্যাংকঃ রক্তদানে সংগৃহীত  রক্ত পরবর্তীতে ব্যবহারের উদ্দেশ্যে যেখানে সংরক্ষণ করা হয়, তাকে ব্লাড ব্যাঙ্ক বলা হয়। আর্থিক প্রতিষ্ঠান ‘ব্যাঙ্ক’ যেমন সংগৃহীত অর্থ বা সঞ্চয় উপভোক্তাদের বিনিয়োগে প্রদান করে,  সেই রকম ব্লাড ব্যাঙ্ক রক্তপ্রদানকারী মানুষের কাছ থেকে সরাসরি সংগ্রহ  করে সঠিকভাবে প্রক্রিয়াজাত করার পর মান ও ধরন অনুযায়ী সংরক্ষণ করে ও মুমূর্ষু রোগীকে প্রদান (রক্ত সঞ্চারণ) করে। “ব্লাড ব্যাঙ্ক” নামটি অবশ্য শিকাগোর কুক কাউন্টি হাসপাতালের চিকিৎসক বার্নার্ড ফ্যান্টাসের দেওয়া। সাধারণত ব্লাড ব্যাঙ্ক কোন একটি হাসপাতালের সাথে যুক্ত থেকে রক্ত সংগ্রহ, প্রক্রিয়াকরণ, পরীক্ষা, পৃথকীকরণ ও সঠিক তাপমাত্রায় স্বাস্থ্যসম্মত পদ্ধতিতে সংরক্ষণের কাজগুলি করে থাকে।

রক্তদানের প্রধান উপকারিতাঃ রক্তদানের প্রধান উপকারিতা হলো একজনের দানকৃত রক্ত আরেকজন মানুষের জীবন বাঁচাবে। রক্তদান স্বাস্থ্যের জন্য অত্যন্ত উপকারী। রক্তদান করার সঙ্গে সঙ্গে শরীরের মধ্যে অবস্থিত ‘বোন ম্যারো নতুন কণিকা তৈরির জন্য উদ্দীপ্ত হয় এবং রক্তদানের ২ সপ্তাহের মধ্যে নতুন রক্তকণিকার জন্ম হয়ে ঘাটতি পূরণ হয়ে যায়। বছরে ৩ বার রক্তদান আপনার শরীরে লোহিত কণিকাগুলোর প্রাণবন্ততা বাড়িয়ে তোলার সাথে সাথে নতুন কণিকা তৈরির হার বাড়িয়ে দেয়। উল্লেখ্য রক্তদান করার মাত্র ৪৮ ঘণ্টার মধ্যেই দেহে রক্তের পরিমাণ স্বাভাবিক হয়ে যায়। নিয়মিত রক্তদান করলে হৃদরোগ ও হার্ট অ্যাটাকের ঝুঁকি অনেকটাই কমে যায়। যারা বছরে দুই বার রক্ত দেয়, অন্যদের তুলনায় তাদের ক্যান্সারে আক্রান্ত হওয়ার ঝুঁকি কম থাকে। বিশেষ করে ফুসফুস, লিভার, কোলন, পাকস্থলী ও গলার ক্যান্সারের ঝুঁকি নিয়মিত রক্তদাতাদের ক্ষেত্রে অনেক কম পরিলক্ষিত হয়। রক্তদান ধর্মীয় দিক থেকে অত্যন্ত পুণ্যের বা সওয়াবের কাজ। একজন মানুষের জীবন বাঁচানো সমগ্র মানব জাতির জীবন বাঁচানোর মতো মহান কাজ। কোরআনের বাণী “যদি কোন ব্যক্তি কোন মানুষের জীবন রক্ষা করে সে যেন পুরো মানবজাতিকেই রক্ষা করলো”।

ব্লাড টান্সফিউশন এন্ড ব্লাড ব্যাংক পোর্টাল এর বিভাগীয় কমিটিগুলো ব্লাড টান্সফিউশন এন্ড ব্লাড ব্যাংক পোর্টাল এর কেন্দ্রীয় কমিটির সরাসরি তত্ত্বাবধানে গঠিত হবে। ব্লাড টান্সফিউশন এন্ড ব্লাড ব্যাংক পোর্টাল  এর বিভাগীয় কার্যক্রম / বিভাগীয় কমিটির কার্যক্রম সংশিষ্ট বিভাগের বিভাগীয় কমিটি এবং ব্লাড টান্সফিউশন এন্ড ব্লাড ব্যাংক পোর্টাল এর কেন্দ্রীয় কমিটির সরাসরি / সার্বিক তত্ত্বাবধানে পরিচালিত হবে।

উল্লেখ্য যে, জাতীয় স্টিয়ারিং কমিটির একজন সদস্য ব্লাড টান্সফিউশন এন্ড ব্লাড ব্যাংক পোর্টাল এর পরিচালক (Director) হিসেবে দায়িত্বপ্রাপ্ত থাকবেন এবং জাতীয় প্রেসিডিয়াম কাউন্সিল এর একজন সদস্য ব্লাড টান্সফিউশন এন্ড ব্লাড ব্যাংক পোর্টাল এর কোঅর্ডিনেটর (Coordinator) হিসেবে দায়িত্বপ্রাপ্ত থাকবেন। পাশাপাশি চীফ কাউন্সিলরদের মধ্য থেকে একজন সদস্য ব্লাড টান্সফিউশন এন্ড ব্লাড ব্যাংক পোর্টাল এর সহ-কোঅর্ডিনেটর (Co-coordinator) হিসেবে দায়িত্বপ্রাপ্ত থাকবেন। জাতীয় স্টিয়ারিং কমিটির / কেন্দ্রীয় নির্বাহী কমিটির সভাপতি এবং সাধারণ সম্পাদক এর সম্মিতিতে জাতীয় স্টিয়ারিং কমিটি এবং জাতীয় প্রেসিডিয়াম কাউন্সিল এবং চীফ কাউন্সিলরদের মধ্য থেকে দায়িত্বপ্রাপ্ত এই তিন জন সদস্য ব্লাড টান্সফিউশন এন্ড ব্লাড ব্যাংক পোর্টাল এর কমিটি গঠন সহ সার্বিক তত্ত্বাবধানে থাকবেন।

You are a true hero of the nation. Love of man to man is established through blood donation and humanity wins. Donating blood is the best way to save someone’s life. The best people are those who help others without expecting anything in return. A bag of blood is not just a bag of blood, it is a means of survival. Blood has no religion. A Christian can donate blood, a Muslim can donate blood, a Hindu can donate blood.

The term of the Central Committee of Blood Transfusion and Blood Bank Portal will be 03 (three) years. This Committee shall have status (as per Section 4.10) equivalent to the Central Sub-Committee. Apart from the central committee of the Blood Transfusion and Blood Bank Portal; Divisional committees can also be formed. The tenure of the Divisional Committee of Blood Transfusion and Blood Bank Portal, the position & outline will be similar to that of the Central Committee of Blood Transfusion and Blood Bank Portal. In order to run the activities of Blood Transfusion and Blood Bank Portal smoothly (outside the Central Committee), maximum two hundred members of IEAB can work in the central / divisional portal of Blood Transfusion and Blood Bank Portal. All the members who will work in Blood Transfusion and Blood Bank Portal, they can introduce themselves as central member / divisional member of Blood Transfusion and Blood Bank Portal.

The Divisional Committees of Blood Transfusion and Blood Bank Portal will be formed under the direct supervision of the Central Committee of Blood Transfusion and Blood Bank Portal. The divisional activities of the Blood Transfusion and Blood Bank Portal will be conducted under the direct / overall supervision of the Divisional Committee of the concerned Division and the Central Committee of the Blood Transfusion and Blood Bank Portal.

Note that a member of the National Steering Committee will be responsible as the Director of Blood Transfusion and Blood Bank Portal and a member of the National Presidium Council will be responsible as the Coordinator of Blood Transfusion and Blood Bank Portal. As well as, one member from among the Chief Councilors will be responsible as the Co-coordinator of Blood Transfusion and Blood Bank Portal. In consent of the President and General Secretary of the National Steering Committee / Central Executive Committee, these three responsible members from the National Steering Committee and the National Presidium Council and the chief Councilors will be in overall supervision of blood transfusion and blood bank portal including committee formation.

Engr. Mehdi Hasan is the first nominated Director of Blood Transfusion and Blood Bank Portal in the history of IEAB, Engr. Md. Asibul Bashar is the first Nominated Coordinator of Blood Transfusion and Blood Bank Portal in the history of IEAB and Engr. Md. Abdur Rahman is the first nominated Co-Coordinator of Blood Transfusion and Blood Bank Portal in the history of IEAB.
